Tom Billone - Photography has been a passion in the Billone family for generations. In the early 1900’s my ancestors realized the value of preserving the past and family history. I am grateful for that since I can now look at a photograph from 1917 and see my father when he was 5 years old and the grandmother I never knew. www.tom-photo.com (Select pictures for larger viewing!)
In later years my father became the “official” photographer for all family events. Wherever we went he would bring his Kodak Brownie, or his Kodak Signet and shoot away. He was the first person I knew to purchase a 8mm film camera and projector. If he were alive today I am sure he would fully embrace the movement toward digital photography. In 1967 I entered the Air Force and was stationed at some very remote locations. One of these, Saglek Bay Labrador, was the most desolate place I have ever known. Desolate, as it was it had its own beauty. This is where I started to learn Landscape Photography, expanding my horizons from just family photographs. The Billone family passion was moving towards its' inevitable destiny - sharing the beauty of the world through the creation of Thomas Photography. I have taken college level photography courses at Nassau College and C. W. Post/Long Island University and have a Certificate in Photography from the New York Institute of Photography. I am a member of the Photographic Society of America, the Northern Virginia Photographic Society, Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild, Fairfax Art League and now:The Loft. I am very excited about this opportunity to present my work to a larger audience and I look forward to a long lasting, mutually satisfying relationship with the members of the Loft and the Arts community of Virginia and the Metro DC area.
