Meet-The-Artist Reception

Date and Time:  (Sunday, September 9, 2018; 1pm – 4pm)

Description of Show/Artist statement:

Cheryl paints intuitively by embracing spontaneity to allow passionate paintings to be born through a transforming layering process of acrylics and inks. Each layer informs the next story of paint.  Her “Dialogue with Abstraction: Echoing my Journey” is a diary of sorts with acrylic abstracts to beautiful resin paintings.

Cheryl’s abstract paintings have been described as acrylics on steroids.  These free-spirited compositions use the versatility of acrylic, resin and other mixed media to incorporate blended color, broad swaths of pure pigment, expressive drips and marks to stir feelings and emotions in the viewer.  With 4 or 5 layers of acrylics, pastels, resin and thickly applied charcoal, Cheryl is known to include “found objects” in the paintings such as gum wrappers, coffee cup holders, feathers, glass beads, sea glass, shells and sticks.

These expressive abstract paintings can be found in homes and corporate offices throughout the country.  Many new, never shown pieces are debuted in this show.
